Carina

3D airway anatomy & bronchoscopy trainer

A life-size thorax you can fly through — the full bronchial tree to the segmental level, five lobes, great vessels, heart, esophagus and the complete IASLC node map. Look at it from the outside, or drive a scope down the lumen with the same three degrees of freedom you have in the bronchoscopy suite.

name any structure — hovering a lymph node highlights it and reads out its station

The right-hand panel toggles each anatomical layer, lung opacity, and the label sets (structures, segmental B1–B10, node stations).

Inside the scope — "Enter scope"

The scope is a shaft threaded through the airway, not a free-flying camera, so it has the same constrained 3 degrees of freedom as the real thing. All keyboard — there is no mouse-look.

insert · withdraw — withdrawing retraces the path you came in on
shaft roll — torques the whole scope ( also work)
tip flex — deflects the view, single plane. These are inverted on purpose: like the thumb lever on a real scope, pressing deflects the tip up, so what you learn here transfers to the instrument

Steering a bifurcation: you advance into whichever ostium the tip is pointing at. So roll to bring the branch you want into your flex plane, flex to point at it, then push in. The tip straightens itself as the shaft slides forward, so you don't have to re-center after every branch.

The numeric keypad mirrors every one of these, and a standard gamepad works if one is attached (R2/L2 advance·withdraw, left stick roll + flex, L1/R1 fine, B re-center). Stick travel is lever travel: how far you push is how far the tip flexes, and centring the stick holds the tip where it is. The stick follows the same lever convention as the arrows — pushing it down flexes the tip up.

Three things to try
